Political System Spain is a parliamentary constitutional monarchy with the current monarch being King Felipe IV since June 19, 2014, after the abdication of his father, Juan Carlos. Besides the King, there is also Queen Letizia, their daughters Leonor, Princess of Asturias, and Infante Sofia. The Prime Minister is the head of the Spanish Government. He or she is elected by members of the Congress of Deputies every 4 years and can be reappointed by the Monarch.
